  • Log in to VALR
  • Once on the dashboard, you will click the ‘go to exchange’ button on PC or click the ‘exchange’ tab at the bottom if you are on the mobile app.
  • You will be taken to the live exchange, where you should see a graph on your screen
  • On the top left of the graph, you should be able to see the heading BTC/ZAR. Clicking this will open up a menu. This is how you change the market between Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP.
  • BTC/ZAR should be the default selection already unless you have clicked this before.
  • You will need to select XRP/ZAR in order to buy XRP.
  • Once this is selected, you will need to go to the buy/sell section on the left of the screen.
  • Make sure that ‘buy’ is selected.
  • Underneath the buy and sell button, you will see either a small dropdown menu or a selection saying ‘market,’ ‘limit,’ and ‘stop-limit’. Make sure that ‘limit’ is selected. This is to ensure that you are a market-maker and not a market-taker. It is always more beneficial to be a market-maker. Here’s a more in-depth guide on what is the difference. Don’t worry too much about this right now though. As long as ‘limit’ is selected you are on the right track.
  • Now you will need to select your price of the XRP you want to buy in at. You will be able to select from the series on numbers in red on the right. We suggest selecting the lowest number (the top value on mobile and the lowest in the list on PC). Click the number to select your price.
  • You will now choose how much to buy from the rands value in your account. You can input how much XRP you want to buy, or leave this field open and can just choose to input your own value in the ‘total’ field to select how much ZAR to use, or you can select a percentage of your total rands value left in your wallet to buy from. So if you select 50%, then you will use half of your rands in your account left over to buy bitcoin.
  • After you have selected your price, you can go straight to place your buy order. Don’t worry about the ‘time in force’ and ‘post only’ fields. You won’t need to do anything there
  • Once you have clicked the ‘place buy order’ button, your order will be open and will complete as soon as the order is fulfilled.
  • Once that is done, you can go to the main dashboard and you should see that your XRP is now in your wallet.
  • Congratulations! You have now bought some XRP!
